Egyptian cotton refers to cotton grown in Egypt, a region historically associated with high-quality cotton varieties capable of producing fine, long fibres.

When the quality of the cotton, yarn and construction are considered together, Egyptian cotton can create bedding that feels smooth, comfortable and refined.

However, the words Egyptian cotton alone do not determine the quality of a bedsheet. Factors such as the quality of the fibre, yarn, weave, finishing and construction all influence how the finished fabric feels and performs.

High-quality Egyptian cotton can be spun into fine, smooth yarns, making it particularly well suited to premium bedding.

This can result in fabrics that feel soft against the skin while maintaining the strength needed for something that is used and washed frequently.

For us, luxury bedding is not simply about achieving the highest possible thread count. It is about the relationship between cotton quality, construction, weave, finishing and feel.

Thread count, often written as TC, refers to the number of horizontal and vertical threads woven into a defined area of fabric.

For example, a bedsheet labelled 400 TC has a different thread density from one labelled 600 TC.

Thread count can influence the feel and character of a fabric, but it should not be considered in isolation. The quality of the cotton, yarn and weave can be just as important as the number printed on the label.

Both can be premium choices, but they can offer different sleeping experiences.

A 400 TC Egyptian cotton bedsheet will generally use fewer threads within the weave than a 600 TC bedsheet, which can contribute to differences in weight, drape, density and hand-feel.

A 400 TC fabric may appeal to someone looking for a lighter bedding experience, while a 600 TC fabric may feel more substantial and enveloping.

The better choice is therefore not necessarily the higher number, it is the one whose feel suits the way you prefer to sleep.

No.

Higher thread count does not automatically mean higher-quality bedding.

Thread count tells you something about the construction of the fabric, but it does not tell the entire story. Fibre quality, yarn quality, weave, finishing and manufacturing standards also influence softness, breathability, durability and overall comfort.

That is why we encourage customers to consider the complete fabric specification rather than comparing bedsheets solely by thread count.

Our goal is for every customer to be totally satisfied with their purchase. If this isn't the case, let us know and we'll do our best to work with you to make it right.
